Re: Rare Deuce parts thread
I can't post more pics of my sedan. It's a hot rod. You'd all get mad at me.
I can tell you a little about it's "earliness" though. It's a 50,000 serial number car produced in Des Moines Iowa. It's the 180th tudor off the line there. It has early hood hooks, open louver hood sides, early pedals, innie dash, and did have an early column drop before I replaced it. But it had a late firewall and grille shell, so it was probably more likely an early summer assembled car. |

Re: Rare Deuce parts thread
Looks like it had a trip to the barber shop judging from the shaved area in the center.

alchemy....There are quite a few of us here with hot rods, ME included. Many of these old Fords being re-purposed as 'hot rods' over the years is what has saved quite a few from the crusher. If you still feel awkward about posting a pic or two of that wonderful 'hot rod' here on the forum, would you mind PM-ing a couple to me, please? I'd sure love to see it in it's entirety. Hell, it would be valuable to many of us just to highlight it's several 'early' features. Thanks alchemy! DD |

Re: Rare Deuce parts thread
DD,
Rather than roll out the then-valid 70-year-old "saved from the crusher" rationale that blew by its "best by" expiry date when the first restored car was turned into a hot rod, why not just admit "it's what I wanted to do". That has current validity. Last edited by DavidG; 07-01-2020 at 07:21 AM. |

Re: Rare Deuce parts thread
I started looking at what I could get for individual pieces off of our 33 Fourdor 4cyl and "for sure" could get "Way More" from "JUST" the grill than we paid for it and a pretty tighty sum IF you add the Fenders, hood and other bits and pieces IF what is advertised is actually what they get in price??? Sort of sad to look at it that way really!!

Re: Rare Deuce parts thread
Here's some pics. This car had the red repaint in the 50's, but hadn't been touched since then. We turned it into a hot rod in 2006. The only "damage" done was the drilling of 13 holes and some slight trimming of the front crossmember. It could be returned to stock in a long weekend.

Heck with some long weekend. NOTHING to be changed on that jewel...PERIOD! I LOVE it, and can't thank you enough for posting those. You probably already know this, but in a crowd of restored stockers, the crowd of people will be gathered around THIS one. Thanks again! DD |

Re: Rare Deuce parts thread
On the subject of raised panel hoods vs not, 20 louver vs 25, & closed rear louver vs. open which might I only surmise have the least flex/twist when opened. ?

Re: Rare Deuce parts thread
So, just WTF is a "Superheterodyne"? Apparently, it's any sort of TUNABLE radio. The invention is now credited to French radio engineer and radio manufacturer Lucien Lèvy. Virtually all modern radio receivers use the superheterodyne principle. DD |

Re: Rare Deuce parts thread
Regarding '32 hood sides' flexing, IMO in likely order of most to least: earliest 20-louver with all 20 louvers open, 20-louver with 19 louvers open, 25-louver with 23 louvers open, and 20-louvers on raised side panels.
