This happened to me on Craigslist:
I emailed the seller and he totally forgot he put an item up for sale and he insisted
that he had nothing to sell. Next day he phoned me back and sheepishly said he did have the item for sale.......and no, I did not buy it.

I have sold a bit of stuff on Fordbarn, and I always, answer all PM messages. It only takes a minute. Even if I get a too lowball offer, I will send a simple "NO".
What gets me, is when a person PMs me, telling they want the part and requests information on sending the money, and I never hear from them again. That has happened several times. I just hope that they do not ever want to buy anything else from me, again.

I have bought several items that were listed on FordBarn. Have been very happy with all of them.

I will confess that I have been guilty of requesting payment information and then not getting back to the seller right away (only one time), made amends with the seller and ultimately closed the deal. I just got busy and forgot about it till I saw that the item had been bumped.

No, not everyone is bad. Just bought a windshield two weeks ago off the fordbarn from Ian. He responded immediately with detail pics. Paid him his price immediately via Paypal. He honored my request on packing it well and shipped it immediately. Came all the way from CA in good condition and was, as described. Satisfied..............

My question is why do people have an email account IF they AREN'T going to check it? Sort of like having a phone and not answering it!

Well now 3 days later I did receive a response concerning the parts for sale. The part has been sold. I didn't mean to open up a hornets nest on this subject of posting and then not getting back. I just wanted to say if your going to post items be ready to check and respond. And I wasn't saying this happens every time. I've had good experiences also. Ford Barner guys are still the best.

I may have spent an hour "housecleaning" my Ford Barn Swap Meet adds, maybe you all should do the same. EVERY AD you place is STILL THERE doesn't matter how old it is. Just do an advanced search and everything will pop up, For Sale and Want ads. You can deleat all the BTT (Bring To Top) posts you added to an ad but you CAN NOT DELEAT the original ad! You can remove all the text and add SOLD, I even added it to the title line. Posted FOUND IT on some of my Want adds. Bob

online selling is an imperfect process, be it here or Craig's list or eBay.
but it WORKS, more than it doesn't.
in 2013 we have sold our 31 Coupe through Fordbarn; our Town Sedan through MAFCA and our 58 Apache truck on Craig's list.
be patient, follow up as appropriate and ignore the bad players........
