Dummy condenser.
Installed the new upper plate in my dizzy on Sat. and was just thinking about ordering the dummy condenser to give the correct look. I just happened to see a post where someone here on the barn said they just cut an old condenser in half. Now why didn't I think of that ? Went out to my box of old parts and found an old condenser, cut it in half...perfect. Just needed that bit of wisdom from the barn. Thanks guys.

Re: Dummy condenser.
On a tour one time one of the cars pulled off the road needing a road side seminar. What we found was the owner had installed the modern points assembly. The little tab on the lower plate that the Henry condenser should have been bolted to had been left adrift and was bent up to where it was just touching the housing and shorting out the voltage to the points.

And if it was a bad condenser, why were you saving it? Catch 22 |
