It looks like the spindle arm nuts do not have cotter pins in them either. You need to check that every place there should be a cotter pin has one.

Thanks. Those are temporary nuts until new ones arrive. Car is not moving - steering column is out for rebuild.

Can’t imagine it is the dog one as it is sitting on the two balls fully seated and centered

My last guess.....someone jacked the rails apart to get the front X in ???? Run a string under the car from front X back

Is it possible that the front axle is off center? When I set a plumb bob down from the center of the crankshaft to the axle, the mark is not on the center of the axle. The mark is, depending on how I measure, about .5 - .75" from the center of the axle. If that is the case, how do I recenter the axle to the vehicle?

Thanks

Did you check the spring center bolt hole in the crossmember to see if it was centered between the frame rails?

Look at picture with tape measure on driver's side. The frame has deep gouges(damage) . The front X is floating on that side , as well
