Default '40 O1A-2473 pedal - shaft

Can the shaft in the pedal casting on the '40 be removed ? If so is the shaft available ? Thank you Fordbarners

Yes and new ones are available. Just make sure when you press in the new one it’s equal on each side for the pedals

And support the bracket when you press the new one in and the old one out.

It's not super tight

I think the last one I changed I got the shaft from Dennis carpenter

Right, but if was to be taken that way. A more accurate depiction would replace Carpenter with Drake or Speedway motors.
