welcome. It looks like you've still got quite a bit of truck to work with. I love the grill on that.

Re: hi from OZ
Hey Pauly250, Welcome to the V8 Forum. You've given a very nice introduction. I hope you can find a lot of information and advice for your trucks here in the future.
We have a pretty strong group of users from the southern hemisphere. Several of the Aussies and Kiwi's were just over here in the states for a V8 meet in Nevada. One tip from someone that has been a user here for about three years, and this can be for everyone not just new users; when you're thinking of starting a new thread because you have a question, first use the "Search This Forum" feature (in the red bar) to do a little research, then go ahead with your question. It can even be helpful to reply to some of those old threads, which brings them back to the top of the que, and gives the readers some background on your question. I only say this out of helpfulness as there are many, many, past threads in the archives covering quite a bit of data. -VT/Jeff Last edited by VeryTangled; 07-07-2013 at 04:05 PM. |

Re: hi from OZ
Welcome to the barn from northern California, and 'MARVEL MYSTERY OIL', pull the plugs and put some MMO. in each cylinder, be generous, put plugs back in and let it soak...is the engine stuck or can you turn it over by hand ?? was it running when parked, and how long ago?.... any history ?? Some will tell you detail the carb and dist ( dizzie ) new plugs and maybe some wires. and run it. I tell you pull the intake and drop the pan, and clean the crud out of the engine, todays good oil will loosen that crud, and it could stop or block oil circulation, not good. Some or most engines after being parked for some time, come back to life and run good for a long time, hope this is yours, but clean inside will help, yes its work but worth it .... good luck and please ask questions, we have lots if information offer..... OLD...BILL

Re: hi from OZ
here is the fordson ET6
even though its a seedy looking english truck i bought it cheap because it has a government rebuilt 21 stud v8 flat head in it,it has a pto and tipper hydraulics that all work excellent. It has a plate on the front of the motor stamped 'genuine replacement motor' The motor starts and revs hard and is very smooth and quiet ,it has no mufflers and can barely hear it. I am currently in the process of figuring out what engine it is exactly as its about a 47-49 truck with a earlier engine,i think the english got handed old stock motors maybe? It has "13HO' stamped on left head? I was originally going to put the engine in my 39 stake truck but now i realise the 39 truck has a 24 stud motor,i havent started it yet,i hope it goes now knowing the 21 stud probably wont suit it. Re: hi from OZ
I know I'm not very smart but I cain't figure out that oil pressure fed coil, or what ever it is. Is that some kind of an oil filter? Don't we talk funny up here in Maine? That's what everybody tells me when I go south. lol Walt

Re: hi from OZ
It looks like you have 2 projects. From the pictures they both are worthy of saving.
The 21 stud engine should displace 221ci unless it got rebored on a rebuild. The 39 could have a 221ci or 239ci depending on engine series no. |

I havent got the 39 with me to compare, its out on the coast and is ready to bring inland away from all the rust. The fordson thames Et6 has been inland all its life and has only slight surface rust and a few dings. It has no engine cover and i was driving it around the property and i was wearing steel cap boots with the leather worn off leaving the steel exposed,i ended up resting my foot on the cylinder #4 spark plug wire(exposed) and i got zapped bad and nearly broke my knee on the dash LOL Last edited by pauly250; 07-09-2013 at 08:34 AM. |
