Default Another PIA job done

Well I got the windshield on my 29 Tudor back on Monday. What a PIA! little 1/4" 20 screws that go through holes in a metal "U" channel and need to have nuts and lock washes put on. The fact that you can't see what you are doing in there, and my big fingers are not double jointed made it an long annoying job. By using screws that were a little longer (So they stick up a little higher in the header area where nobody will ever see them. Who cares!) I got it done.

But then, you have one guess as to what is supposed to hold the clips that secure the wiper motor wire in position - yep the same screws I just struggled with!!

I modified the clips (picture below) turning the mounting hole into a "U" so that I could just loosen the screws, slip the clips in place, and retighten. It still was not easy (remember no vision and big fingers), but I got it done. It was like hitting myself in the head with a hammer. It felt so good when I stopped!

I got her back sitting on her own wheels (picture 2 below), and yes I know the white walls need cleaning. I started her up after her long winter nap. She started right up. I let her run for about 20 minutes to make sure I got rid all water in the exhaust system.

Next comes electrical. I have to get all the lights and the wiper working. But now I see the light at the end of the tunnel!

Necessity is the mother of all inventions. Way to think outside the box.
The car looks great. Jeff

yea i get to deal with those screws soon to try to dissassemble... previous guy decided to put the slotted heads up in the header with the nuts hanging down... gonna be interesting to say the least...

that deffinately seems like a 2 man job to reinstall it and cover the gastank with a heavy blanket before doing so...

Nice looking car. You don't see a lot of green ones.

Yes I had a friend help hold it while I got the first two screws in to hold it in place, and used a moving quilt to protect the gas tank. However it was taking so long to get all the other screws installed we quit and went to lunch.

I took the time the next day to finish.

Yeah I remember watching a program on tv once where people were getting their tongues split in the middle... imagine... 2 thumbs and 8 fingers on one hand
