floating bearing installation
Is anyone aware of a post, video or article that has a comprehensive How to on the installation of floating bearings??
My 37 finally called it quits after four years of knocking! my engine is currently at the machine shop waiting to get it's crank turned and the rods sized and I would like to assemble the motor myself. I know I can take the safe route and have the machine shop assemble it, but experienced flat head builders are scarce and becoming more scarce every day. I think it's time to step up and learn this art if I'm going to continue using a flat head for my every day transportation. |

Re: floating bearing installation
I know this is not exactly on subject but in Lawrenceburg TN is Ed Nix Machine. Ed is in his 80s, runs a small shop where he does most of the work himself. He does know flatheads, even has his own cam grinder with several flathead masters, is a Vertex expert as well as other general machine operations. If you run into problems, he might be a good man to call.

Re: floating bearing installation
Get a copy of my book "Nostalgia engines" from Bill Boomer. I have a chapter on fitting them.

Ron does a great job of covering that topic in his book. Someone close by may have a copy

Re: floating bearing installation
Felix, will you be at the "Hot Rod Reunion" this weekend. If you do attend, please stop by our pit stall. We have a front engine dragster, late Hemi powered, non supercharged. We run the 7.0 index pro class, probably the only non supercharged car in the class.
That invitation applies to all barn members! |
