Cylinder Head Stud Lengths (stock)
It's time to install the cylinder heads on my 59A. I have this assortment of various length studs that came out the engine when we dis-assembled it. This engine was in nice shape and by my standards was quite original and undisturbed but obviously at some point it had some studs changed.
I believe there are three stud lengths required for stock heads? I have the following set: 1 x 2-3/16" 15 x 2-5/16" 4 x 2/13/16" 25 x 2-15/16" 3 x 3-1/4" I will need to locate a few but need to know which I am looking for. Thanks Last edited by Jason M.; 01-06-2013 at 02:20 AM. |

Referring to the depth of the holes in your heads will tell you exactly what you have and or don’t have.

I think the 3 longest are for when you are fitting an oil filter bracket.

I would not re-use studs on a block that looks like that-get a new set, I think ARP sells them, if not Ray N does-I will not try and spell his last name.

Re: Cylinder Head Stud Lengths (stock)
Thank You. I ordered a set of studs and nuts from Roy. Since I had him on the phone I ordered a good bunch of hardware for my engine, some gaskets, ignition wires and 16' copper coated fuel line.

Re: Cylinder Head Stud Lengths (stock)
Thank You. I paid off the machine shop today and am happy with the cost and work. So far I'm into the whole project for 10X the initial cost of my "running" Craigslist engine that I intended to clean, paint and install. I have enjoyed the whole process and learned a lot.
