Default new rear hubs

Should the new studs drop into new hubs like an original hub or do they need pressing in ?? We bought new hubs but studs will not drop in ,close but would require pressing in , almost as though the hole is a bees knee to small, Better to ask than force something , Derek in still winter NZ , but warming up ,

With the late type cast iron drums and new hubs, the length is a little longer to fit the drums. There may be several sources for the studs so a person could end up with undersized holes or oversized studs. I'd measure the sizes and call Randy or Mell Gross and see what their opinion might be. They still should be swaged. The drums will need to be trued as well if it's using new cast iron drums.

I understand about swaging once the drum is fitted , problem is the studs do not fit into the hub , appears hole is slightly too small, new hubs , new studs, they may press in but would be tight ,Anyone had this problem , have contacted the supplier for their ruling await there reply ,

How much pressure does it take to push the suds into the holes? I have had to tap them in before and didn't think twice about it. Everything worked just fine.

The smaller hole in the new hubs has been around for a while. Depends on who's new hubs. On the undersized hole ones, we slightly open the hole to accommodate the studs. The countersink in the hub and the hole in the drum will take care of any problems with stud centering / positioning.

Open the holes just enough to get a line fit or no more than 0.003" clearance to the studs. This is necessary for an efficient shear load transfer of the studs to the hub. The swedging of material to secure the studs in the hubs is just for stud retention.
