Default Roadster door hinge mounting screws

I am restoring a 31 Roadster.

Do the screws that mount the door hinges to the door post use a lock washer?

I have the special cupped washers and screws but I do not have any lock washers.

I seem to remember several years ago when I took it apart, there were small counter sunk toothed lock washers under the heads of the screws.

If there is supposed to be lock washers, where do I get them?

Thanks,

Chris W.

No lock washers
The “prongy” washers are similar to conical washers which can be bought from McMaster Carr
I’m sure other suppliers have them
Yes those so go between the screw head and the large cupped washer

Just checked out the hinges on my 30 de luxe roadster . There is a cup washer under the slot head screw . On the inside of the hinge is a square nut with a standard lock washer underneath ,I dont think the hinges have ever been off the doors .The hinges to the body the top two screws have no cup washers the bottom three have cup washers I see no lock washers on the back side

John in sunny Suffolk County England .

I think John is referring to the inside of the door
Not mounting to door post. Door hinges to door post means to the cowl??
Or am I confused??

I have generic conical or as some of refer to them as counter sunk toothed (shakeproof) lock washers but they are too thick and as a result, the screw heads stick up a little. The screw heads are supposed to be flush with the cupped washer.

If I am remembering correctly, (and I may not be) the original conical toothed lock washers were very thin, about half the thickness of the generic conical toothed washers you can currently buy.

Anyway,

Thanks for every ones input.

So there were originally thin toothed lock washers used and it wasn't just my bad memory. As I remembered, they were very thin and usually came out in pieces.

I know I can put a drop of locktite on the screws and they will not come loose as long as I have the car but I am restoring a fine point car and would like to see something under the heads of the screws.

I will have to see what I can come up with.

Thanks for everyone's input.,
