Default 8N on an A

Can anyone tell me if an 8N carb will work on a model a with an adapter plate?

I think the linkage is on the wrong side and I don't think it has a gav.

I was seduced by the similarity of the 8N and the A engine too. Buy upon closer examination, they're nothing alike. Least of all in carburetion. The 8N is 119 cubic inches while the A is 200 C I. The 8N is 24 HP and the A is 40 HP. As I said, aside from them both being flat head 4 cyl., there is no similarity.

I run a A model zenith on my 8N with an adapter plate and an extension on the throttle arm and a new bracket for the chock/gav rod. The throttle works backwards ( you push opposite the normal 8N throttle) It runs fine.

That's interesting! Since the throttle lever on the steering column connects directly to the governor through a spring and not to the carb, this connection would stay the same. And the governor lever that connects to the carb can only function in the original direction to control engine speed. So I'm puzzled as to how the throttle could work backwards! Could you show us a picture? Thanks!
