Contemplating a radiator burp tank

What is the up side and if I don't what is down side. I have figured how to mount it off the right cylinder head

You have an expansion tank built into the top of your radiator. I fail to see how adding a second expansion tank provides any benefit. It will let you fill the radiator to the top, add another quart to your cooling system, but when up to temp that extra coolant is just riding in the side tank, not any help to the cooling system.

It does permit a closed system, keeping air out of the coolant. But I’m not sure how much benefit that is. May help long-term corrosion control. Wont help the cooling system do it’s job to remove heat.

But....it does stop coolant being ejected outta the overflow through expansion and lost. The radiator will always be full to the brim, irrespective of temperature. All modern cars use this feature.

I added one when I built my truck and it doesn't do a thing. The radiator burped some coolant out when it was first run and then it found its own level and I never have to add coolant.

Coolant gets ejected only until it finds its level. Then no more ejection unless over-heated. Or over filled again.
Modern cars use a remote expansion tank because they don’t have an expansion tank built into the top of radiator. The available grill area is filled with fin-tube heat exchanger. Modern cars don’t use two redundant expansion tanks.
