Re: 1936 cabriolet ground strap location
The correct ground strap bolt on location is on the universal joint cover. See photos.

Piggybacking on this, can you also provide any information on battery hold down hardware for a 1936 Phaeton ?

There is a detailed description of the hold down hardware in The V-8 Clubs 1935-36 Ford Book pgs 94-95

Don,
Except for the two upside down Vs with tails with threaded ends that secure the rectangular perimeter on top of the battery, the battery's position and how it is secured also shows up pretty well in your photo in #2 above. |

Re: 1936 cabriolet ground strap location
I'd strongly recommend that anyone owning or working on a '35 - '36 Ford, pick up a copy of the V-8 Club's book that Don mentioned. It's a wealth of information, and can be ordered on the V-8 Club's website.

Re: 1936 cabriolet ground strap location
I finally found the photo that shows where the ground strap is bolted to the universal joint cover caps. The driver's side bolt, lock washer, flat washer and nut assembly also holds the ground strap in place.
