Well, my boss is an older lady with a 59 big brake corvette and a 65 vette as well, so there is no shortage of gear heads and grease monkeys here. Were going to try and seal this one with a product we sell here, and if that doesn't work, we will go ahead and fit a zenith and then tackle the water pump, then comes a complete fluid flush and a new set of tires.Wallace Model A.jpg

Not sure if that picture came up but if it did that's our truck.

Have you considered the heating/oven method on the carb, I did it on mine and it fixed it right up...

I do not have access to an oven to do it in, I myself am in the middle of moving, and we do not have an oven here at the hardware store

Thank you for that info, me and my boss had been trying to figure out why there were different carbs on different trucks

I've fixed a few warped Tillotson's and Marvel's.

What I do is clamp them together and apply heat using a heat gun. As it heats up, tighten the clamps somewhat. Leave clamps on, let it cool and repeat several times until the surfaces mate up. If you overtighten the clamps you could crack the carburetor so the key is patience and to apply heat multiple times until it's fixed. It usually takes a couple days.

Rather pressing on and trying to true your Tillotson I would get another good one . They are very cheap and plentiful at swap meets and on ebay I would guess . The Tillotson is a fine unit I have one on my 30 P/U here in sunny AZ . and it runs just fine did a 20 mile breakfast club run yesterday no drips no leaks . Used good Zenith units are way way more expensive for no gain in your situation . I bet there are "barners" nearby who would give you a Tillotson for free !!!

John in sunny Chandler AZ (another 6 weeks and back to Suffolk County England )
