Henry Ford's Model A (Oscar Ford)
Stumbled across this on YouTube. Some very cool period photos in there (sampled some here).
Warnings: 1. White Walls 2. Modified 3. White Wallls AND Modified https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ztTOOreJRpQ Columbia 15437-D... Recorded on April 11, 1929. Oscar Ford was from Georgia. This is perhaps the first hot rod song ever recorded, beating Frank Hutchison's "Chevrolet six", by a few months. Ford went on to release subsequent car related recordings. Re: Henry Ford's Model A (Oscar Ford)
The '29 phaeton is the personal car of the country & western singing star standing next to it. I think he is picking it up from a local Model-A Ford dealer. Check out the non-factory, but dealer supplied accessories on it:
different color wheels, nickle plated folding windshield stanchions, cowl lights & cowl trim (might be factory Ford not sure) sidemount(s), dealer spare tire cover and possibly more. Somewhere on YouTube is a better picture of the car. I love pics of Model-A's from when they were new or nearly new loaded with non-factory goodies. Bob-A |

Re: Henry Ford's Model A (Oscar Ford)
The '29 Phaeton in the first photo is of Country Music legend (and my long-time personal hero) Jimmie Rodgers - the Singing Brakeman (Mississippi Blue Yodeler). He special ordered the car, and if I remember correctly, it also has a Dual-Cowl dealer installed option as well (blocked by Jimmie in the photo). The cowl-band and cowl-lites are a non-Ford accessory as is the fold-down windshield.
Jimmies recording career began in 1927 and ended with his death in early 1932. - Doug Vieyra |

The photo below it of a '29 Fordor with surfboards, is from my great country, New Zealand ; Model A's were a favourite beach going vehicle in the 1960's when they were just cheap ''old bombs'' liked by young men. |
