compression head?
who sells a compression head thats over 6.1 for a rebuilt insert motor that will look close to the stock head, don't like the look of the head with the fins. Winfield had a 6.8-1, but I heard there is none available.

Re: compression head?
I bought my Winfield 7:1 head from Reds Headers a few years ago.
The combustion chambers were rough and needed polishing, I had to get it machined to clear the pistons, also got the combustion chambers relieved to clear larger valves, and when I finally filled it with water last weekend, it had a pinhole that water oozed out on the top face. I have drilled down the hole a little way and filled it with JB weld. Time will tell whether or not that repair is successful! Whilst the initial cost of the head was quite reasonable, it has ended up costing quite a lot more Keith |

Re: compression head?
The Winfield and Super Winfield heads look nothing like the originals; spark plug location and bosses are completely different. I believe Snyder's does (or did) sell a hi-compression head that looked similar to stock - and there is always the possibility of finding an old "speed head" (early aftermarket hi-compression cylinder head).

Re: compression head?
I used a standard head gasket, a solid copper spacer head gasket and then another standard head gasket so I didn't have to have the head machined. Four years and no leaks.

Re: compression head?
I am working on versions that will eventually include a stock looking head that is 7:1 compression.

Re: compression head?
Y-Blockhead
Don't know about the current compression ratio. I do know the bore is .100 over and the pistons stuck up way above a single head gasket.

Re: compression head?
Instead of using spacers or fly cutting the head
I normally have piston custom made with what compression height gives me around 0.040" piston to head clearance custom pistons only cost a little more than std |
