I made a simple tool for straiteng spokes
Take a flat iron 16" long ,1" wide ,3/8" thick drill 5 , '3/8" holes one inch apart toward the middle of the flat iron .I bent a 90 degree bend at one end to hold it from sliding off the hub . Place the wheel flat on a table. Place the flat iron on the wheel from the hub to the rim .Make a bolt 7/16" , with a hook to hook on a spoke ,and threads at the other end about 3" long for pulling up the spoke .With the flat iron being this long you can slide it up and down to hook on the spoke at different locations without having to change the bolt to another hole. Easy to work with

Re: I made a simple tool for straiteng spokes
I NEED one bad. My spokes are not good and very difficult to find good used ones. New ones break the bank. Look forward to some pics! Thanks sooo much for sharing.

Re: I made a simple tool for straiteng spokes
Bent spokes usually mean a bent rim. Or at least an out of true rim. There is more to consider than the look of the spoke.

Re: I made a simple tool for straiteng spokes
I use a slide hammer with a hook on the end.

Re: I made a simple tool for straiteng spokes
I do what J Franklin does, slide hammer with hook - work well. Double kinked spoke are hard to make straight.

Re: I made a simple tool for straiteng spokes
This may sound too simple but I straightened spokes on my 1930 coupe wheels with a ball peen hammer and a flat piece of steel about 4 X 4 inches square and 1/4 inch thick. I just backed the spoke with the steel plate and used the hammer to work around the spoke until it was straight to the point where I could not notice any bend. Probably very unscientific but I found the spokes very easy to work.
