Default 1931 S/W Visor recovering

The visors in my 160B got a lot of smoke damage from the garage fire they were in. I vacuumed a lot of the soot off, but when I tried to brush them the fabric started coming off. Not sure if they are original or not.
My Question is, can they be recovered & if so what material is used. Would it be the same as the headliner?

Called Labarron Bonney & they can recover both visors for $137 or sell material & I can do it. Material is the same as headliner.
For doing it you need an industrial sewing machine. I have a friend that has one, so will probably do it here

Are you going to replate the hardware or just paint it?

"satin" nickle was the original finish. Clean it up and paint them again if you like, it's not a show car.

I got my visors recovered & ready for the brackets to go back on. In looking at my before pictures it looks like the wide side of the visor goes to the center of the car when mounted. I have a note to myself that the wide side goes to the outside of the car. Now I am not sure. Which would be correct for a 31 S/W 160B

Here are some pictures of Scott McGrew's car's visors: http://31ford.dougbraun.com/McGrew?page=2

Sadly, my own car's visors were long gone when I got it.

Thanks for the link to the pictures. It will come in handy when I start to put the interior back in the car. Have to wait until spring. Don't have enough room in the heated garage to open the doors all the way.

Is the weather here ever going to get warm? Snow is over the fence here from snowblowing.

I hope to get over to the Eastside A swap meet later this month.
