Is Charlie Yapp still making flatheads for the Model A? Or Snyders making performance heads?

Snyders still does , they have a whole table of 2nds in the showroom in Ohio .The seconds I looked at seem to have pits in combustion chamber or areas the didn’t clean up when machining .Not sure how this would effect use ability.

Thanks, I'm not looking to buy one, I'm just trying to get prices so that I don't price mine out of the market. I had been selling them for $650 but the cost of castings has gone up 50%, I'm now doing some of the machining myself in order to keep the price down.
I see that both are out of stock, Yapp's last price was $850, I can beat that, but now I know what to shoot for.

Be careful of internet advertising because it more than likely is out of date
For instance you can look at Donovan “D” motors on line with an advertised price
But these have been sold out for some time

I'm stuck at 68 mph. I think it's starving for air - stock intake & carb. I picked up a B carb to see if that will help. Mine is an Antique Engine Rebuilding touring engine. A friend has a dual Zenith updraft manifold but won't part with it. I like that idea because it keeps the gravity fuel system. I bought a pair of Stromberg knock offs and 6v fuel pump in case the B carb doesn't help enough. Of course once I get 70 I'll be looking for 75.

That was directly from Dan, but do check with him on current costs. It seems that some
peoples prices are from older inventory and when it runs out and they have to remake
it the price goes up quite a bit as their cost have also risen. I think you are seeing that now Jim.

I can't compete with Dan's price, and have decided on $750 for a head.

You also have to add in a new water pump. His uses the B pump - his cost for a new pump is $425.

You still need to buy the pump - do they come in 6V? and then make up the pieces to adapt it to your engine.


This is the only photo of Jim's head I can find on the web. Looks like all you need to buy is a new water pump gasket.

Ported B block, Stipe 340 cam, reshaped stock size modern valves, 97 on a Burns manifold and a Snyders cast iron header.

74 is at the end of a half mile sprint and with 3.27 gears it's still pulling at that...

My head comes with a longer dist. drive shaft because the head is taller than stock. I also suggest buying my ARP stud kit, for the same reason.

I would post a picture of my head but it is too difficult for me on this site.

I notice there is no relief over the pistons.
When running higher than 7 to 1 or so, I would suggest people think about heli-coils in the block in addition to the ARP studs with their washers and nuts. Putting high strength studs in doesn't give you full strength unless the threads in the block can carry the load. Especially, if you are adding a few extra ft-lbs to the torque (65 instead of 55). If you are building from scratch, your engine builder can check the threads in the block and make the call on inserts.
I am sure there will a lot of response regarding the torque but you want to take full advantage of high strength studs for higher compression engines.
