Default Sparkplugs. I was rewarded following exhaustive search.

Buying where the price is low has become more important to me now I don’t have an income except 0.4% bank interest ( which equates to approximately nil). Getting money from my treasurer, otherwise known as my wife is not dissimilar to extracting teeth from a dingo (wild dog).
I have spent 2 days looking for sparkplugs for my Model A. When I did eventually find some they were $62 from repco but were on special for $50. I couldn’t find a suitable alternate. But after more searching I eventually did. Advertised on a John Deere website in America for 6usd. I called a local John Deere here in Australia, and yes they had them. 11aud. What a relief.
I am pleased to pass that on to you readers for it might just help you as indeed you have helped me on this as well as other matters in the past. It is also worth a mention, years ago I operated an Airtractor powered with a Pratt 1340 (cc) engine and the electrical components were also available from John Deere. The designer / builder of that aeroplane knew they would be operated in agricultural areas, the same sort of places one would find John Deere spare parts.

My aviation friend says that Airtractor with the Pratt engine would perform better if it had a 1340 cubic inch engine not a 1340 cc (cubic centimetre) engine. Yes he is quite correct.

Hi Dave. John Deere AC600R. Apparently marketed for lawn mowers or ride on mowers. I also found a site of cross references. I did endeavour to copy link but site wouldn't permit. There was many comparable but I wasn't able to find any when I was searching yesterday. There is perhaps one unknown and that is the "M" on the plug. This below is specs from website.

CORE NOSE PROJECTION

RETRACTED No Projection

H .020"-.030"

Y .060"-.090"

M .100"-.140"

L .180"-.220"

E .240"-.300"

cheers, gary

Here's a cross reference chart showing the AC600R JD part#. Third one from the bottom on the right under JD part #'s. Shows it crosses over to a Champion W18, which is an 18mm plug. Fits many antique 2 cylinder JD tractors, but will also work great in a Model A. Good catch, Gary.

gary,

1940's Model L Gravely walk behind garden tractors use Autolite 3076 which works for highway use in Model A.

https://www.amazon.com/Autolite-3076..._t3_B01B8NHTUQ

Autolite 3077 has a rather extended tip that extends into combustion chamber but does not hit anything with a Police Head. Has Model A threads.

Heat range is warmer than 3076. I have used them around town a few years ago.

You might find cross reference tables which will lead you other plugs that will work from Caterpiller and other heavy machines.

https://www.sparkplug-crossreference.../AUTOLITE/3076

3076 looks similar to W18

3077

This cross reference looks good.

Corrected URL:
https://www.autolite.com/docs/defaul...ref_0311_0.pdf

I hit control F on webpage and typed 3076 in search box. It crosses 49 different manufacture's plugs.

I will bet that you could cross W18 and others to find many other machines that use similar plugs.

Also in recent years Champion changed their numbering system.

Example W18 is called 518

Are dingos any good at controlling the rabbit overpopulation?

yes, I guess so Allan but not as good as the virus calivirus or mixamotosis. Without the viruses we would be overrun by rabbits that even dingos could keep under control. They were handy, the rabbits that is, in the depression. but today there are few who can skin a rabbit or pluck a duck. Guess they could learn fast though. Cheers, gary

We don't like having chocolate bunnies at Easter as they are a pest. Chocolate Bilbies are far more politically correct.

They were a couple of good links updraft. You mentioned bilbies. A delightful and harmless little fellow in small populations because both dingos and cats, (domesticated and wild cats) clean them out.
Pictures. 1. A rabbit kill. I can't determine the make of this truck, maybe a reader can, and 2 the Bilby. The animal itself and the chocolate one updraft says should substitute the easter bunny.

Woofa, You have a way in getting a lot of responses to your posts! Fortunately I speak Aussie fairly well, so usually understand what you are saying. It's been a bit cool here in SoCal, but tolerable. Stay cool!
