Default 1934 Pickup dash

I am trying to help a friend find parts for his '34 pickup. To start with, he needs all the instruments for the dash. We have a swap meet coming up this weekend (June 12-13, 2021) in Denver and I would just like to know what to look for. Here is a picture of what he has, basically, nothing. I would appreciate a photo of a correct dash and closeup of the instruments.

I'll post some other photos of his truck, because I know everyone likes to see them.

The dash/instrument panel shown in the third photo is the correct one for either a '33 or '34 closed cab, be it pickup or big truck.

Thanks, what kind of supply line does that fuel gauge take? I know it is not electrical.

It is a complicated setup of tubing and an indicator fluid. You have to have the tank unit that goes with it and it just about has to be rebuilt by one of the gauge shops unless you really know what you are doing. This is a diagram of a 35, not the same, but I think they are similar.

Thanks, I appreciate that. My friend will need a new gas tank anyway, some previous owner took it out and it got lost many years ago, so he will need the tank and sending unit.

Steve you will find rebuildable speedos on epay along with decent amp meters but I used a later model Ford fuel gauge that a local mechanic was able to calibrate with a Bob Drake fuel sending unit in the tank. It has worked well for the past 15 years and counting..... the choke and throttle hand knobs are also repops from Macs.

Take a look at my '33 V8 album,......Good luck the trucks are fun!!!!!!!

Many thanks, I appreciate all the info. I understand the different fuel gauge and will leave it up to my friend as to how he wants to proceed.

The 33-34 unit is clocked differently although will work on a pickup( I think). The vent tube on the 33-34 is perpendicular to the frame(chassis) when installed. The 35 unit won't clear the floor of the body in that location.

Thanks, sounds like it will be best just to order the sending unit and the tank at the same time, probably from Mac.

Steve,
Your friend has a good project there. I also am starting into something like this and do appreciate the pictures and the knowledge from these folks on the Ford Barn. And their willingness to share information! All good stuff!
Your friends truck has not had a easy life in the trees. Glad he is going to save it!

So just because I can, I am going to post this dash picture that should arrive in my shop this afternoon. It resides in a 32 truck. David and others can tell us about the differences between this and what your looking for. It might help your friend and others? Interesting about the complex fuel gauge system!
Good luck at the swap meet! I have not been to one of those in 40 years. Humm may have to go to some???

Regards,
Chris

Yes, this one has definitely been in the trees for a few years. Here it is last winter. With leaves on the trees, it cannot even be seen from the street in the summer.

And as an encouragement to Larry, I had Charlie bring his dad's still running, '34 over so Larry would have something to look forward to.
