My '55 Vicky arrived with its 6 volt radio that had been converted to FM stereo. Unfortunately, it was not connected and there were no wire code instructions. I asked around on how to connect it...most responses were not helpful - until I contacted Mike Hagan Antique Radio Radio in Fairless Hills, PA. Mike volunteered to check the unit if I sent it to him.

He reported it was a 14 year old conversion (no Bluetooth) and he knew how to hook it up and verify operation. I was so pleased that he found and sent an original manual for my converted radio back to me...at no charge for his time!

Kudos to Mike Hagan...it is supportive folks like him that make our car hobby rewarding!

I'll be also looking for a new radio/stereo for my 55. Since our Courier's have all this cubby box's in the back, I thought there would be a perfect spot for a separate power amp. I see USA Parts supply still offers their radios with cassette's. Gotta believe serious old stock!! I'm looking for a straight radio and media player

I still have the original 6v radio in my 55 wagon but since I converted it to 12v, I installed a nice pioneer stereo that has AM/FM/USB,and Bluetooth.I really enjoy listening to music off my usb drive and also my iphone.

For anybody else that has ever had the same or similar problem with conversion hook-ups, here is a little hint. The conversion modules are ordered by the radio repair/conversion shop in two or more pieces. One of those modules is a factory made, pre-wired speaker wiring module. Most of the shop guys do not order the factory made speaker module because they can make their own waaay cheaper in the shop. Only problem is, that the literature that comes with the radio modules includes the speaker module literature (which shows a diagram having color-coded wiring and where each wire connect to and polarity). The shop-made module never has the same color coded wiring as the factory module. So you are lost unless your shop guy hands you a separate diagram they scribble on a piece of paper showing the same information the factory sheet gives, but with the color-coding he used in the shop.
If you have lost that scribbled sheet, you are lost.

The wire color codes and functions match the op manual that I received from Mike Hagan. Fortunately, the stereo speakers were already installed by a prior owner.
