What body is this cowl and gas tank from?
Can anyone tell me what this Ford Model A cowl and gas tank are from...and the year?
It is located in Germany and the owner says that it is from a "1928 Victoria".....so that can't be right. No Victoria's in 1928, nor in Germany at all. The cowl looks to be 1930 or 1931? (By the way, note the trafficators.) ....any ideas? Is it worth salvaging (the sheet metal looks to be descent)? Thanks, Brad in Maryland Last edited by Brad in Germany; 04-08-2016 at 10:00 PM. |

Early 1931slant windshield Model A. It does not have the indented firewall.

The header looks like a Vicky. Could be a '30-E'31 Victoria.

I think it's very much worth saving, especially being in Germany, where it should be fairly rare.
Sure don't see many dual wipers. |

Maybe a leftover tank from 30 into 31?

Bear in mind the Vicky started in late 1930.
Then you have to consider shipping production lag for Euroupean cars. Is that the correct wiper for the German market? |

The wiper motor looks like a more modern replacement, and the one that was on my 29 Tudor looks the same, except mine is red.

Re: What body is this cowl and gas tank from?
There were no slant windshields (nor indented firewalls) produced or sold in Germany in 1931, nor was a Victoria available in Germany.....so if it really is a slant windshield of some kind, than it must have been an import from another country. That would answer why the steering column bracket is under the gas tank, if the cowl is a 31.
Note the speedometer is in kilometers. Though not part of this cowl, in Germany the 1931 Model A's had US style 1930 type radiator shells ....all the way through 1931. Could the wiper motor be an original BOSCH electric motor? Sometime in 1930 the German made Model A's started using BOSCH electrical components (lights, horns, etc) How about the instrument cluster: 1930 or 1931? the instrument cluster is the late 30 all 31 style also look under the data tag on the firewall, there should be another smaller rectangular tag under it that will tell you who made it and what body style it is i agree with John its a early victoria |

Does the gas shutoff valve in image one tell us anything? Looks like it might be an indented firewall..

the instrument cluster is the late 30 all 31 style This is an early instrument panel As per JS May 1931 through the end of production the Panel had a distinct line around the ribbed area. This is in my opinion an early non indented firewall Victoria, and they had the steering bracket still on the tank and used a filler piece (spacer) to lower the steering column. . |

I can see it's a slant windshield, but I don't know the difference between the Victoria and the other sedans as far as the header goes. |

Re: What body is this cowl and gas tank from?
As Mot said, look for a small body tag under the data plate on the firewall. It should have numbers stamped next to the word Murray. Unless it was from Canada...
I have a replacement wood header I'll sell ya, Brad! |
