Default `39 Ford Clutch Pedal Bushing -- Many Thanks

Several weeks ago I posted a "Wanted" ad on the Swap meet section. I was looking for a `39 Ford clutch pedal bushing that had some larger-than-normal dimensions. It needed to be 1.92" long, with a 1.193" ID, and a 1.254 OD and none of the aftermarket vendors seemed to have this item in stock.

First of all, I want to say a big, big, really big "THANKS" to all those folks who took the time to check what parts they had in their personal inventories and send me a PM, an email or even give me a phone call to offer advice, or whatever part they had on hand. That was truly thoughtful of each of you who responded.

I still haven't found that big bushing ... but I've found a solution that's gonna work for me (I think). I discovered that a case bushing for an old Torqueflite transmission has the same OD. It's not of the correct 1.92" length so I bought two of them (Part # 020340, pressing each into the end of the clutch pedal, about 1/8" below a flush fit. My machinist is now gonna turn the ID to match my shaft -- can't tell you exactly what the number is since it will vary ever so slightly depending on wear.

Again, thanks to all the folks who offered assistance. Hope my improvisation will work for you ... I think it's gonna work well for me. I'll probably even drill/tap a hole in the pedal and add a grease zerk for good measure!

Tip go to a plumbing supply place and get a good quality 1 1/4 sink or bath drop tube cut the length you need take your pieces with you to check the fit as some drops fit better than others .

I think I would install your new bushings, THEN drill and tap for zerks THEN take to machinist to fit to shaft, this way there will be no possibility of distortion, etc. JMO
