i just inserted the fuel pump rod down onto the cam lobe but there is no lift on the rod. what am i doing wrong?

sorry guy's i feel like the man in Hawaii who pushed the wrong button and caused a false alarm for a nuclear attack.when i reamed out the bushing for the push rod i never went all the way thru. unlike the man who pushed the wrong button,i will answer any and all questions you may have.

What type of bushing are you using? The ones I have messed with are hardened and would be difficult to ream.

The replacement '32-'48 bushings are brass. Unlike the later steel.
When pressed in place they will swage down to a smaller ID and may or may not require reaming to accommodate the 3/8" push-rod.

Interesting, does't look like they have the oil groove as well.

Design was changed with the 8BA series introduction that changed the push rod. to 7/16" dia., with an added lube hole supplied by the oil galley.

I guy might be able to finish reaming it but it's going to be tricky with the cam in there. Turn the engine upside down in a stand and use grease on the reamer to catch the metal particles. The reamer would have to be the correct finish size with multi flutes and have a flat face on the end that goes in the bore. Ream a little ways then rotate it back out for cleaning & re-lube then repeat as necessary until through. Make sure the cam lobe is all the way down on the stroke cycle.
