Re: Fan Blade Replacement
Thanks Bob - Sure appreciate the advice. I ended up stripping a nut on the bolt - so I ended up just smacking the bolt with the hammer. After about 20 good hits, it popped free. Thanks again!

Re: Fan Blade Replacement
Guess your fan assy will be tight to the shaft like it should when you reassemble.

Re: Fan Blade Replacement
Use the connected nuts and bolts, sold by most supplyers, that way you can slide the water pump sideways and off without moving the radiator.

Re: Fan Blade Replacement
When I put a two blade fan on. I jacked up the front of the car high enough to slip a 5 gal pail under the engine pan to drain the radiator with less mess.
Also to hold the hood while I tilted the radiator forward, I used a prop stick, per this https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showp...6&postcount=16 |

Re: Fan Blade Replacement
ALSO, ALSO !!! Remember to watch the fins on the front of the radiator
when pulling forward on radiator, there is a tendency to hit the license plate bolts on the bracket. Most people never watch this area and they will damage the front fins. |

Quote:
-drain coolant -remove hood -detach radiator support rods -detach upper radiator hose -loosen radiator hold down nuts/bolts -remove light bar bolts so it can be moved forward (We found that tilting the radiator forward to the light bar did not give enough clearance. With the bar moved forward we could tilt the radiator enough to get the water pump out. -move the fan to the new pump -reverse the procedure to reassemble everything The hardest part was getting the cotter pins back in the radiator hold down nuts. There is not much room to work down there, but we did eventually do it. Oh, and yes we used cardboard to protect the radiator. Last edited by pgerhardt; 11-13-2017 at 09:19 PM. |
