Default 36 Ford v8 starving for fuel

I have a 36 pickup that starts and runs very well up to about 40 mph but when accelerate for faster, it sputters and spits like starving for fuel.
What can I do to fix this.

Check float level in the carb or sticky needle valve first.
Then fuel pump flow and pressure. G.M.

My first thing would be to hook up a fuel pressure meter and take it for a spin...that will tell you if it´s a carb rebuild or fuelpump/crud in lines and tank issue.

I had a leaky flex hose at the firewall, repro hose started leaking air, made it hard to start and starved at speed.
