Default anti chatter rod adjustment

Any tips on adjusting anti chatter rods. I put a set on my 32 ford with an 8ba and I would like to know if there should be any force either toward the front or rear for better performance. Thanks John

The rods should be snug up against the engine bell housing and evenly tight fore and aft and from side to side. If a gap persists, it should be shimmed.

There are clips made that can be attached where the early ones were.

The big thing here is, you don't need them if everything is in good condition.
They DID help if the clutch was worn out or oily or if the motor mounts were shot.

Aftermarket OR homemade, bolt-on brackets.

they have nothing to do with clutch charter. there purpose is to hold the eng. when the driving force is applyed by the torque tube.releving the strain on the motor mounts .open drive cars do not have them. 49_53 fords .if your clutch charters check the motor mounts also oil on the clutch disk.also china parts

I just snug them up so there is no "play".
If you do decide to use "anti-chatter" rods with your 8BA and you are using a pressed steel bellhousing you can weld -on ears and then modify the existing rods to fit. Or, install an after market kit from "back in the day". These photos are of an 8BA in a 40 Ford.

Thanks for all of your help, I'll take a look at motor mounts and see if there is anything else amiss. I started having a little chatter in reverse and now sometimes in first so I purchased some nice brackets and made up some rods hoping it would help but it didn't.
