Maybe a Question for Bubba?

I'm running a Bubba GM distributer in an 8BA engine. 12 volt conversion, ballast resister bypassed, Bosch 00012 coil 3 ohm internal resister, GM condenser. Now the question: I need to replace the coil to distributer wire, can I use a 10 gage stranded copper wire???

10 gauge wire would be overkill. It would work fine, but might be a little stiff for such a short run. Using "Ohm's law" (I=V/R), you would be running 4 amps (4=12/3). Any wire from 14 gauge and up will handle 15 amps, so 12 or 14 gauge would be fine.

Of course, always use stranded wire for automotive applications. Solid wire is a "no-no", along with wire nuts and extension cords.

(1) Bubba retired years ago and may be deceased but Charles Schendler worked with him and is a knowledgeable person. (2) If you dig into Pentronic's information they recommend stranded SS wire because the copper and solid wiring emits an electronic signal to can damage the electronic module. Unfortunately, as they admit, copper or solid wiring transmits the spark faster.

He mentioned he was running a "GM condenser", which, to me, indicates he is running conventional points.

Yes, conventional points ignition system. The reason I'm asking the question is that I seem to remember seeing a previous post in which Bubba had something to say about the importance of the coil to distributer wire.
