Default Original rear view mirror bracket

Is this an original rear view mirror bracket for 28/29? Sure is rusty enough.

Looks like an original rear view mirror bracket...But not for the 28/29's. It is for the Standard Roadster, Std. Phaeton and Open Cab Pickup...December 1929 through production 1931. (MARC/MAFCA Restoration Guidelines and Judging Standards)

There were 2 different styles used in 28-29 I believe, and that isn't one of them. Steve's post suggests 30-31.

This is the first time it occurred to me that it would apply during this period to the 76-A ('28-29 type) Open Cab until the end of it's production in June 1930. I'm confident that it indeed did but I've just not pictured it that way until now.

This black mirror bracket has always been an interest for me. When I acquired an unrestored 31 40-B Dlx, the knowledgeable seller said, "Don't let anyone tell you this bracket was chrome (as seen on so many Deluxe models).

While the JS indicates the black bracket is for the standard Roadster, Phaeton and open cab pickup Dec 29 - to end; Pg 84 of "How to Restore Your Model A Vol 6 indicates this bracket as an accessory item for the 40B Dlx, 35 B, 76B and 180A. These models apparently did not come with an inside mirror as standard.

It seems to be difficult to find further information on this black mirror bracket.

I wonder just what information is at ther Ford Archives that will tell you more about this bracket than just what the Standards says???

It never was listed as an "accessory". However if you were to request an inside mirror for the Deluxe Roadster or Phaeton it would be the only mirror Ford had to offer.
