Default '31 windshield glass install help

Just got my new windshield glass back from the cutters. $87.55
I have a glass bedding question.
Do I use one continuous piece of tape and join them at the middle of the top or corner?
Do I put it in the frame then slide the glass down...or...wrap it around the glass then slide the slide it all down into the frame?
Going to give K-Y jelly a try, heard good things.
This is my first A, and windshield, so I'm a virgin at this...hence, the K-Y
Photos help, being a visual kind of guy that I am.
Any and all help will be accepted and appreciated.
After this I'll be fully street legal and can go get my tags, and stop snicking around hiding from the cops, not that many cops come out into these woods any hoot.

I used one piece with the bottom corners mitered, so they folded neatly around the corners with no gap or overlap, then taped it to the glass. I lubed it and tapped it into place in the frame. I then tapped the top of the frame into place, again with some lube. I layed a piece of wood about 8" against the glass to tap it into the frame, then used the wood against the top frame part to tap it into place.

After the frame is screwed together I used a razor to carefully trim the excess material.

Use dish soap not KY, and I Prefer the rubber, not that rubberized cork stuff. But, lubricate a lot and make sure you miter the corners on teh rubber so no double thickness.

I would have had the place that cut the glass install it.
Good luck.

Having them install it would be the easy way to go, but I enjoy tinkering/working on the car way to much to let others have all the fun.
It may be truoblesome, hard, heartbreaking and frustrating...but isn't that why we do this?
So far, I've done everything on this car myself, but the glass cutting was a little beyond me.
As long as I can do it...I will. When I get to the point that I can't do it anymore , it will just take me a little longer, that's all.

I had a friend who decided to let the "professionals" at the glass company install his windshield glass and they bent the ends of his frame. Even if you've never done it before, you can sometimes do a much better job simply because you take your time and are more careful.

When I installed the glass in the AA about 15 years ago I found the setting material was too thick. I ordered more from Bratton's or Snyder's, and it was the correct thickness. So, if it doesn't go in somewhat easily, don't force it, but try a thinner material. I used bar or pipe clamps to help install the glass and squeeze the frame together.

I don't use the tape,go to a marine supply and get a tube or tubes of boat glass setting caulk squirt it in the channel and slide the glass in,wipe off the excess and you are done,no leaks guaranteed.

Got the glass in and the windshield re-installed, looks good...feels even better, now my eyes don't water and my cap doesn
t blow off.
Not real happy with the glass cutter, two small chips and I think he cut it just a tad to small, but you get what you pay for, next time I will go with a known vendor, but this one will do for the next couple of years, now that I know how to do it (right) I will re-visit it sometime down the road.
Thank you all for your help.
And I used the soap for the bedding and windex for the seals, worked just fine.
K-Y...Not that great
My next avatar will have a pic with the glass installed
