Wheels (rims?) For my 1952 Mercury
Hello! I have a 1952 Mercury that I plan to participate in a track race with this spring.
I don't want to shred my whitewalls, so I have got some used 215/70-15 tires that I plan to use. The problem is that I cannot find any wheels (rims?) That I think fits AND looks decent. I have checked Summit Racing, where I found a wheel that looked ok, but the backspacing was too little. I found a wheel that I think Will for, but I an not convinced that I Will like the look of all the round Holes. Have any of you a suggestion what wheels that Will fit and where to buy? The original wheels Are 15x5.5 with 5x 4.5 bolt pattern and 4" backspacing. I want 15x6 with 5x4.5 bolt pattern and 4.5" backspacing to clear the rear wheelwells. I am from Norway, so please don't be picky on my writing [emoji28] Rune from Norway By the way: my car is on the first page of the Norwegian 2021 vintage car rally/racing rulebook [emoji106] Sent fra min S52 via Tapatalk |

If you call Wheel Vintiques which is also owned by Coker they can do special backspacing for you at additional cost.

I'd go with Wheel Smith in Corona, CA before Wheel Vintiques based on some of the reviews I've read. But you can make your own decision. https://thewheelsmith.net/

I don't know what wheels these are on the 53 Monarch pictured but they look like some newer style from a wrecking yard.

Re: Wheels (rims?) For my 1952 Mercury
the OP is from Norway, shipping new wheels from the states with the import duties and shipping cost would be the last option i would think. Ralph has the right idea, junk yard wheels, you just need a full matching set, and a junk yard. got any in Norway? theres a fella on the hamb from Finland that finds junk in the woods all the time. maybe Murry in Sweden could help. i would think any 60's vintage plain wheels in your bolt pattern would not be too hard to find with most folks putting some fancy modern wheels on these days

Re: Wheels (rims?) For my 1952 Mercury
I would think that there is probably quite a few older Ford Explorers in
the salvage yards in Norway. Many Fords have the correct bolt pattern. The problem will be getting 15x6 with the correct backspace, but the salvage yard should be able to point you in the right direction. .

Re: Wheels (rims?) For my 1952 Mercury
Thanks for all the replies!
I checked the wheelsmith website, and they have ONE type oem rim with the measurements I think I need. But I had planned spending about 100 dollars per piece and use a Norwegian company called Pony Parts to do the shipping as they ship by sea about once a month. I think I will try the local salvage yard first, as the rim with the round holes are for Honda civic 2006 - 2011. They should be quite easy to get, I think. American cars are hard to come by in Norwegian salvage yards, at least where I live. Again: thanks for tips! Rune from Norway Sent fra min S52 via Tapatalk |

Good luck with the wheels. Hope we get to see some pictures and video of the spring race with your 52 Mercury.

I sure Hope so as well! The spring race is on a Gocart track, so I have to ask a friend of mine that works there if I can Try the track before the event, as I am not sure if my relatively big car is able to go around the tightest corners [emoji28] The other cars that participate on these events are british sports cars, Volvo Amazon, and a 1967Mustang track car. Needless to say: I will not win the race! But it is very fun anyways! [emoji28] Sent fra min S52 via Tapatalk |
