Default T-5 to flathead speedway adapter

Anyone use the speedway motors adapter so you can fit a s10 t5 to the flathead? If so I would like to know how it was to put on also is there anything else you need to buy to get it to work.
I have a 1987 T5 and a 1947 flathead which I redone last winter. Any help would be great.

I used the Speedway adapter, and it worked out fine. It uses the stock ford throw bearing assembly. You will have to fabricate a holder for the return spring as the stock trans had that and the adapter does not. You may have to enlarge the holes in the transmission for the bolts to the adapter. You will probably have to cut off the transmission input shaft. They provide a sleeve to press on the transmission to enlarge the size to original ford. You may need to trim it some as well.

Did you buy your wishbone piece? Or did you make that. Looks really nice how it jumps over the back of the transaction.

A properly prepped T5 package can be set up for a torque tube drive now if a person wants to go that way. There is a thread on here about that.

I ran into this twice with the speedway version of the flathead to chevy transmission bellhousing adapter. The half moon notch for the starter bendix had to be trimmed alittle to clock the bell around to get the bolts into the motor. That was the only issue. Wasnt alot but was just enough it wouldn't bolt up.

Thanks for some advice guys. I'm going to start putting in my new rear end this weekend which is a 8" maverick, with chassis engineering parallel leafs springs. Then I'm going to move onto the trans. Just like having everything I need when I start so I don't have to wait for parts to come. My 40 p/u should be ready by spring.

What about clutch plates? Do I need a different one or can I use the stock? I thought I've read people using a astro van clutch, or maybe I was reading something else.

37 truck hit on everything pretty much. One thing I found - you might have to trim off about 1/4" from the tranny main shaft as it may bottom out into the crankshaft. Also, Cornhusker sells a really nice clutch fork that integrates the sleeve for the S10 shaft into the fork - makes life easy and a no brainer. I do not like the Speedway adapter not having an inspection hole and cover like the stock trans. I would put one in. I have used Speedway and Cornhusker adapters and like the both but for different reasons. There is always some bit of modification in any kit, no matter what it is ....

The Chassis Eng rear sway bar kit for transverse rear spring was a great addition to my 40 coupe and reduced the heavy body role on turns to next to nothing ....
