Default 1936 Windshield Wiper Motor Install

My project car, a '36 3W Coupe, didn't have a windshield wiper motor on it when I got it. I found the correct motor and rebuilt it, but I have no idea of what is needed in the way of gaskets or spacers to mount it to the car. Does anyone have an "exploded" diagram or even a picture of what's required? It appears I might need a spacer with one end of the spacer cut on an angle to match the curvature of the sheet metal, but I don't know if that's correct or not.
Anybody able to help ?

Thanks,
-Bob

Yes, that is correct, plus a rubber gasket.

Here's an exploded view showing the components of a 35-36 closed car wiper motor.\

Hope it helps.

I never could understand why Ford used wiper motor with the Vacuum inlet (17475) on the opposite side of inlet hose??

Very simple, the wiper was built and installed for right handed people, ie; they could reach up to the header panel with their right hand to turn the wiper on and/or regulate the speed of same.
If the regulator was placed on the left side, in line with the vacuum hose coming up the "A" pillar the average right handed person would have had to reach across with right hand, in front of his face and thereby block his vision.

I'll look in my '35-37 parts supply, I might have the required parts to adapt a Trico wiper motor to the header panel..

Don,
Thanks very much for the diagram - exactly what I needed. Would you know if the 17515 grommet metal or rubber?

blucar,
Thanks for looking. I'd be elated to get the correct parts !

Thanks to everyone else that replied,
-Bob

TagMan, looked in my EFV8 parts stash this afternoon. I have a complete '36-37 Trico wiper motor. All of the mounting hardware, including the exterior SS finish washer. I'll attach a pix of the wiper to this topic tomorrow..

Oh come on, you mean a 2-3inch difference in hand reach is better than not having to bend the incoming hose 180 degrees putting that much extra stress on it and requiring a foot more hose?

Attached you will find three pix of the 36-37 wiper motor I have.. I will not part the motor out, it is all or none.. The large round knob shown in the pix on the end of the output shaft is a adapter for the late model type of wiper arm. PM me if interested..

Does the angled spacer come off the shaft for the 36 motor? The rendering above in post #3 shows it as one assembly, and does give this detail. For 37 and 38 closed car the spacer is much longer and is removable. The 35 Cabriolet used a very similar spacer, longer and in chrome finish, also removable, Photo below.

All of the 36-37 Ford wiper motors I have seen have a removable shaft adapter.
I think one should keep in mind that the wiper motor shown in posting #3 is a draftman's drawing, not an actual photo of a motor.

TagMan and I have been communicating via PM's regarding his many questions about installing a vacuum wiper on a '36 Ford 3 win cpe.
This AM I received a PM from TMn regarding the installation of dual wipers on a '36. His question pertained to the use of "two motors", left/right.
My response to TMn contained info about Fords '35-36 tandem wiper assembly as shown on page 122 of the '35-36 Ford Book.
I informed TMn that dual wipers using two motors is not a good idea, they tend to work against each other, especially with the limited vacuum that the 221 CID engine has.
My '36 is a Delux, it came with the factory dual wipers which operate via a dummy post on the right side which connects to the left motorized shaft via an external stainless steel slave shaft.
The factory dual wipers use to be rare as hens teeth, however, Drake has been re-poping them....
I have attached a pix of my '36 showing the dual wiper accessory option

blucar,
I appreciate all your efforts to assist me with my question. Funny how the brain works, but I woke up in the middle of the night, last night, and it popped into my pea-brain exactly what you stated above - the two motors would work against each other.
The 2nd set of holes in the header panel on the right side, must have been for use in cars sent to countries with right-hand drive.

Sorry to appear so dumb - I guess I have a lot to learn about these cars, but I'll get there.........if I live long enough !

Many thanks to all who have added their comments to this thread - I appreciate it VERY much.
-Bob
