Default 1933 Victoria Gas Tank

A friend of mine has a 1933 Victoria. He needs to buy a gas tank for it. Looking at catalogs from Bob Drake, Macs and Carpenters, they all say 1933 uses the same tank as 1934 Victoria ( and 1933 - 1937 PU). So we fit it all together with a regular 1933-34 tank that I had and original spreader bar and gas tank cover, which all seem to fit very well together the same as "normal" 1933-34 passenger cars. I cannot figure out why the catalogs say to use the different tank in this car. Does anyone have experience in this because we are confused why the experts would put this in their catalogs. Cheers Rob

Rob........I'm not sure about your question of '33 vs. '34 tank, however,I have a '34 Vicky and on that model , it's my understanding the body has to be removed before one can replace the gas tank, be sure your friend is prepared to possibily under take that job! Thanks.........

Early 34 vicky has short bonnet like 33 and used standard tank with apron but late 34 vicky
with trunk lid uses same tank as pu because of tank spout goes through body.

Andyr, The 33victoria has a removable gas tank cover as all other 33-34 passenger cars have. I understand what you say about removing the body on a 34 victoria to change the tank because the body goes down past the bumper mounts, different to a 33. This is why we can't figure why the suppliers say 33 and 34 are the same. Rob.

smitty34, This is our understanding, that 33 vickys use a regular passenger tank unlike a 34 vicky which use the pick up style of tank. Thanks Rob

Call and talk with the Drake people, I got my '33 pickup tank from them in 2004. They will help you determine which tank is best. I was able to remove the old tank and install the new one from under the body it rests on the frame rails. Maybe the Vicky is the same .....
