Default 2N-8N-9N Tractor Starter vs. V8 Automobile Starter

Is the tractor starter the same as the automobile starter? From pictures, they appear to be the same starter motor. If the starter motor is the same, then is the Bendix the same also?

The reason I ask is you can still buy new starters for tractors in your choice of 6V or 12V.

You may be able to check with Dennis Carpenter on this since he sells parts for those model Ford tractors. His tractor catalog is probably on line and may answer your question.

The N series tractor starter are all 6v the same as a v8 60, 85-100 hp starters are different bendix and arm. NAA, Jubilee, hundred series tractors are 6 and 12 v and are the same as the 54 OHV pass car.
