Re: Social group for 41-48
I should have stated this a little better. In the Black section right below the NEW logo there is a tap "Community" this is where you can find Social Groups. I have created one in there for 41-48 Ford Cars. You can post pictures of your cars and add help link that will always be there for easy reference.
Here is a link. http://www.fordbarn.com/forum/group.php?groupid=33 |

Re: Social group for 41-48
Here is some pics of my dad's 1948 Super Deluxe Fordor... Its nicknamed the Grey Goose. Its an all stock 59a except its 12v. A minor interior restoration is in store. We also plan on putting some 15" steelies or chrome reverse wheels on it. Maybe a little suspension work with some dropped springs. This will be the "family" cruiser as it will hold more than my F-100. One question I have is how or where can we tell that rear axle ration it has? When the speedo reads 55 or so the engine is really turning. I dont know if changing to a 3.55 would be good since the engine is stock and the car is heavy... Any thoughts?

Re: Social group for 41-48
I think I got the link right and joined. New Fordbarn is a lot more techy but does have a lot more to offer. I found most of the posts to be the 34-40 Ford questions. Nice to have a section on just 41-48s. Plus I like the edit function to correct my typing after I have posted something!

Re: Social group for 41-48
The standard was a 3.78 ratio. Stamped on the differential housing would be 9/34 for the 3.78 if by some chance you had the 4.11 its stamp would be 9/37. Mine revs about 2500 revs at 55 with a 3.78 ratio and 15" coker radials. The 3.78 ratio revs around 200 rpm lower than a 4.11 ratio at every speed from 45-65 MPH

Re: Social group for 41-48
My 47 coupe had 3.78 gears in it and i went to 3.54. The engine was still screaminmg at 70 mph. I would think about using a old Bronko 9" and mount it under the old Ford. It will have the same bolt patern as the wheels you are using now. U could use a ford pichup trans shaft and rear mount with pickup yoke and have a open drive line and run 3.25 gears. Marv

Re: Social group for 41-48
