Early 1928 Brakes
Hi All! New member and new owner of an early '28 Roadster - Apr/May manufacture I believe. E-brake lever mounted on left frame and segmented brake cross shaft that does not utilize shaft bushings on the outer ends. No independent e-brake shoes.
I would like to keep the original setup and I have everything I need with the exception of the frame brackets that restrain the outboard part of the cross shafts. I ordered current brackets and shaft bushings but clearly these are not made for my car as I had to 'spring' the cross shafts to install and pedal operation is overly stiff (although brakes work reasonably well). My first desire is to try and obtain two sets of these frame brackets but I understand that this might not be possible. Next best thing would be to obtain some good pics of what these brackets looked like so I could attempt modifying the modern ones to suit. If anyone can assist it would be much appreciated. Email is [email protected] Pic of my new ride attached below. Many thanks! Jack |

Re: Early 1928 Brakes
I will take photos when I finish dinner and post them. You might be able to get originals from Berts in CO. +1 (303) 293-3673 They have loads of original parts you would need to call since the original parts are not listed on the site.

Re: Early 1928 Brakes
Here are the photos. My car is obviously a driver. It was built in Oct 28 so I do not have the LH brake lever. Mine is the pistol grip version in front of the shifter. I do however have the split shaft version, I you need other photos let me know. Also let me know if Berts has the parts you need. If not perhaps some local club members might.
