Does anyone know how to decode a VIN number of a car manufactured in Ontario Canada. I am trying to determine the birthplace of my new car.
VIN 232LB3172
1933 Ford 5W coupe

That number is a post-production creation and not an original Ford of Canada engine number or VIN. For starters, the original would have started with either CB or C18 (four or V8) followed by another capital letter stamped on top of the chassis frame rail near the steering gear box and on the right side of the firewall near the bottom of the sloped section.

Is there a publication that you could suggest that will list the VIN numbers for Canadian manufactured cars? I am looking at another.

I will ask some Canadian V8ers if they know of a source as all I have are those for '32-'34.
