Hi Theo, I agree stay it is a shoe box,keep the hood closed.I have a 51 shoebox with a 3/4 race some people do not like that but a lot of guys on the fordbarn have built motors Harold Ca.

Nothin wrong with what you are doing. Most of our flatheads have some changes/modifications. Maybe we all would like to have a perfect restoration but can't for one reason or other. Stick around.
