Is it just me? ...but I prefer the rear windscreen of the Fairlane over the other models. It is one massive piece of glass

I can see 1961's getting thin, but thats 57 yrs ago, but now Crown Vics vanished. Talk
about rich kids something 2yrs old is a antique to them. Town Cars & Mercurys ain't seen one go by here for can't remember. I drove a square tail light Crown Vic hitting 300,000
miles (police dept.) never had brake job, never had timing chain nothing. Chief sent my
to Boston for a new one. I tried to buy my cruiser, no way dealer= going to paint it yellow
NYC taxi cab thats where they all went.

It seems like John F Kennedy liked 1961 Fords, as can be seen in this old photograph.

I have an '01 Crown Vic Police Interceptor as my DD. 213K and still runs and drives great. I've done very little to it in the 50K miles I've owned it.

Great period picture of a 1961 Ford Galaxie 4 door hardtop. Another 61 Galaxie is on the left of this picture.

This Thread is titled "1961 Fords - Where have they all gone?" Well, this picture shows five of them, including a very rare two door station wagon. The Sunliner Convertible looks to be past saving, but the others don't seem too bad. This lineup was taken in Albuquerque New Mexico a few years back, so it would appear that these too have been lost forever? Too bad, as 1961 Fords are a good looking car.

mercman, If there's a chance this place and the cars still exist it may not be too far from me.
I could go take a look (if I knew where it was).

just fyi...
I called this yard today, it's about an hour away from me. The wagon, convertible and at least one other '61 are still there. The owner said the convertible had been 'T-boned" and most likely wasn't saveable. The wagon (missing its tailgate) and one other still there were bought by yard employees but the owner didn't know if they might be available anyway.

With a bit of work, that 1961 Ford 2-door Ranch Wagon in that Albuquerque Wrecking Yard could look like this?

I hope not - hate those rubber band tires.

I am with you there. I dislike these late oversize wheels on any car. Give me the standard wheel with either the dog dish hubcap or original full wheel trims.

These are the correct 1961 Ford Galaxie full wheel trims. They are very nice looking wheel trims.

Have a look at this beauty, 1961 Ford Sunliner. There is pale Yellow one parked next to this Red one. They are great looking cars.

This beauty is shown on the Old Car Manual Project Brochure Site for 1961 Fords. If you want to check out a Brochure on a particular make and model, chances are that one is shown on this great Web Site. They are not available for sale, but can be viewed page by page for free. If you have a Brochure on a car or model that is not shown, I know that they would be happy to receive scans of it, so that it can be included. In the meantime, check out this great site by clicking onto this Link. http://www.oldcarmanualproject.com/

Here is a great shot of a 1961 Ford Country Sedan parked between 1958 and 1959 Fords. The black sedan in the background is a 1963 Ford Galaxie 500.
