Default Intake Manifold gasket material - 1950 V8

We just had to remove the intake manifold and want to replace the gasket. What was on there looks like it was metal(?), but I am finding paper gasket replacements. What should I be looking for?

Thanks.

I have always used paper gaskets, lightly greased prior to installation.

I've never seen a metal one.

Some manufacturers use a sandwich type gasket due to the heat riser area in the block.

I just started pulling off the old gasket and it is definitely metal. Seems to be a paper-metal-paper sandwich, and it looks pretty old. The indications on the gasket were "MADE-IN-USA", "FEL-PRO", and "8903".

Our replacement is paper only, and that seems to be all that is available. Searching Fel-Pro, I find "MS 8903" and that looks to be paper also.

I do not like the paper only gaskets. Some are two-ply and separate at the rear and leak oil. Michael at Third Gen has the metal sandwich gasket and it's far superior.
