Default Rebuild Procedure for a Stewart-Warner Round Speedo

There is a 1994 written procedure for overhauling the oval speedo. I would like to take a stab at overhauling the '30-'31 Round speedo, which is supposedly not quite as complicated. Do you know of anyone who has done a write-up on the '30-'31? (Or, who would like to talk me out of it, because of the need for special tools, etc.?)

IMO, if the round speedos are not as complicated, they are probably easier to fix and if that were so, there would be people doing it. I could find no one to do mine so I bought a GPS based unit that I mounted on the A pillar of my 1930 CCPU. BTW, another advantage of going 12v.

The 1994 article says that the round is easier to address technically, but they devote the entire article to the oval speedo. I'm interested in the mechanical aspects of the restoration. There are folks who restore these, but that's not my direction at the moment.

Try sending a message to PapaNick. He does a nice job rebuilding speedometer for a reasonable fee. He can probably give you an idea of what is involved.

Thanks. You wouldn't happen to have a link to that site, would you?

I have seen his advertisements on here. I've also used Dennis Ellerman for rebuilds. These gentlemen are in the business of selling their services. I was hoping to find someone who was interested in the technical aspects of the rebuild, and who might have published something.

Thanks to Ray and Steve for their providing the URL to the Cabriolet site, which contains the Beaver Chapter article among several others of value. Even Wiley Higgins has an article there, so I can tap him for some thoughts.
