Stripped threads on 53 flathead
I have a 53 flathead and some of the threads on the carburetor are in rough shape. The fuel line tightens up but leaks. Any ideas besides getting a new top piece for the carb? Any help is appreciated as always

Re: Stripped threads on 53 flathead
Did you try the yellow Teflon tape around the fitting threads, I think it hold up to the gasoline?

Ya really don't want to use teflon (even the yellow) on that kind of a fitting, especially on a carburetor. DD

X2 of V8Coopman. The only "good" thing about yellow teflon is that it is easier to see when you continually have to take your carb apart to dig it out and get it running again.

If it's a generic 94, a new top should be a cheap easy, fix.
