Brake upgrade on a 41 pickup ??
I've had this truck for a few years now. My major issue with it is brake performance. I would like to make the old girl stop better. Too many crazys in the road these days. I am thinking of using a Speedway kit to convert it to disc brakes or putting the self energizing brakes on it from a 53 to 56 F100. I guess I'd like to hear what you guys have experianced with both of these conversions. BTW I am running a dual circuit MC for a 68-9 Mustang

I used a kit from ECI on the front and Lincoln brakes from MT Car Products on the back. Both ECI and MT are great to do business with.

Re: Brake upgrade on a 41 pickup ??
Just an FYI update. I used the Speedway kit with the 40 drums in the rear. I had earlier converted to a dual circuit MC using a 69 Mustang unit 1" bore. Braking performance was much improved. The only issue was low pedal, about an inch off the floor. I remedied that by changing the MC to one for a 70 Chevy/GMC 1 1/8",(same bore as the original Ford single). The pedal is now high, about 1 1/2" from the top. Pedal force is a little higher than my 04 Chrysler, but it is not objectionable. I don't see the need to add power assist to this set up.

Go with the disc brakes up front. I've used the F-100's, but the disc set up is far superior.
