I would just do a bonded title.
Your insurance company or the dreaded DMV can tell you how it's done. |

Re: Looking a a 30-31 Model A title
Does you car have an original Model A frame? If so why not simply apply for a title and be correct. Performing a lien sale is often an easy way to get the title.

Re: Looking a a 30-31 Model A title
Suggestions on what to do should be ok, but if you are looking to buy one on this site as a heads up here are the rules;
Selling or wanted of titles or historical documents or bill of sales is not allowed ! City: ALL State: ALL Posts of Wanted or Selling of HISTORICAL Titles/ DOCUMENTS/ OR BILL OF SALE registration DOCUMENTS are PROHIBITED in the classifieds or any other section. NO EXCEPTIONS..... Sorry fellas - Unfortunate, but that's the way it has to be. Thanks, Cob Ford Barn Moderator

Talk to the Ill DMV see what they say, it sounds like your going to build a car out of parts? You need bill of sale for parts to build a car, I believe. Might be the same as a home built trailer, bill of sale for the parts needed for the build.

Re: Looking a a 30-31 Model A title
Ways to obtain legal title due to loss or destruction depend on the law in the state you live in. The bonded title is one of the best roads to take. An assembly title requires following the guidelines of the state that issues such titles and I'm not sure if they are available in all states. Another way is to get a district or county judge to make a court decision on the ownership of title or legal registration. I've had helicopter owners that had to go this route when purchasing an aircraft without a registration document from the previous owner. This is one way to go when the previous owner can not be identified or has been deceased for some time. The state DMV has to honor a court order.

Re: Looking a a 30-31 Model A title
I am from Illinois and you will have to apply for a special construction title from the Sec Of State. It will be a bonded title for 3 years. After that no bond on title.
I did this for my 30 roadster. Look for title information on SOS website John

Check with your state to see what you need to do. There are companies that will do the Lien Sale for you for a small fee. Here in Los Angeles I have used Grant lien Sales. Check with you local towing company and see who does their lien sales for them. PS When applying for a title for any vehicle NEVER EVER tell them it was built from parts. They only know what you tell them.
