Default Weaver Auto Ambulance… Color?

I purchased a 1918 Weaver Auto Ambulance. It's current color is rust. Did Weaver tools come in a standard color?

With the small cast iron wheels, running over railroad tracks would be quite hard on the equipment.

My friend has the Weaver 20 press shown in the ad, and it's red.
I've seen the twin auto jack, and it was black.

It was red, and this is how I know --- here is a link to some history, go to the bottom of the link and click on the history box there is a picture, hopefully you have a later version with the hard rubber tires, and I think it would take 2 people or more to lift it into truck.

Brian,
Where on that site did you find that red was the finish on Weaver products?

The very last paragraph...

What Color Was It?
Many people ask what was the original paint color of their Weaver item. It appears that the very early models were probably BLACK. By 1920, All Weaver Equipment was painthed GREEN except for certain items, such as the High Speed Press - which was always BLACK, and continued so until portions of the 1940's and early 1950's when the equipment was painted RED. The products returned to the Familiar Weaver GREEN in the 1950's.

I have a Weaver Auto Twin and you can see on certain parts that it was a shade of green.

If you go down to near the bottom of the link there is another box (HISTORY MUSEUM), it shows the exact ambulance that is in the advert that 30ccpickup has which he says is 1918, and is painted red, in the what color paragraph they are saying (probably black) until 1920, am I reading this correct.

They are cast centers with solid rubber tires.

So, for the 1928-1931 time period, the color was green base on the above information.

That's a different one than the original ad I was referring to.

Not my ad, but look at the original ad and what it says about towing cars over rough roads at 25 MPH.

I can see that being useful in the shop, but I'd hate to use either one pictured out on a rough road.

My weaver 2 ton floor jack is green and is a factory color. I had the ram reworked once but it was repainted the original color. I can't post a PIC but could send you one.

Arcade Toys made a toy one (auto Ambulance) for their tow truck line back in the twenties. Very hard to find.

The weaver crane was also made and a bit more common.

It must have made quite a racket going at that speed, probably loosened up a few bits on the old T, and the tow truck --- we haven't gotten any comments from the original poster, hopefully he may post a picture of the one he has.

I pick-up the auto Ambulance today and it shows a patent date of 1915. It appears to be identical to the original add I posted above.
