Re: Extra Side trim on 1956 Ford Fairlane?
Accessory Top Strip on local 1956 Ford Fairlane. Notice that the tail end is different to the regular strip below. It is unusual that there are three different vehicles shown in this Thread with this added trim. Two of which are 2 door models and one a 4 door model. One of which now resides in Australia. The Jury is still out on this Subject. Surely, someone knows more about this unusual trim. |

... hmmph ...
That photo convinces me. The upper mldg is different if not the angle of the photo. Is there anyway that you can contact any of the owners down there and get information off the DATA PLATE? |

Re: Extra Side trim on 1956 Ford Fairlane?
Another unique piece of this unusual side trim. To answer Gary's Question, the owner of the Town Victoria with this Accessory Trim died in 2021 and I have never seen the car again? |

Re: Extra Side trim on 1956 Ford Fairlane?
Go to the below site and scroll down until you see an AU 57 FORD -
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Customline The trim is similar. One would need an AU FORD PARTS CATALOG to find if the option was available or was offered as an ACCESSORY. And then again, FORD of CANADA assembled and exported cars to the COMMONWEALTH. The quality of that upper molding matches the known mldg. It had to be FORD stamped. One needs to corral one and hog-tie it to get to the PATENT PLATE.

Re: Extra Side trim on 1956 Ford Fairlane?
You know something? The 56 FORD was one pretty S.O.B. whether in FAIRLANE or CUSTOMLINE trim level.
And I was a 1957 FORD AFICIONADO during my youth. |

Australian 1957 Ford Customline. This example has the optional thin Chrome Strip to add a third colour. Ford Australia never offered the true 1957 or 1958 Fords. They just updated them for these two years. |

Note that the name has been changed to read Customline on our Australian 1957 Fords. |

Re: Extra Side trim on 1956 Ford Fairlane?
This 1956 Ford Fairlane Town Victoria (which is the subject of this Thread) is not of Australian origin. It was imported from the USA and converted to Right Hand Dive by the Owner. The only body style that Ford Australia ever offered was the Fordor Sedan plus a Coupe Ute. |

If it is a one off someone did a heck of a job on. The ends are too much different and blend in perfectly

Re: Extra Side trim on 1956 Ford Fairlane?
56sedandelivery, As you can see from reading this Tread, it is not a "on-off", as there are three examples that we know of, a Convertible, a Victoria and a Town Victoria. That means that there are two different lengths for the strip on the front doors, and two different lengths for the rear quarter strips. We have established that the additional top strip is longer that the existing one on regular Fairlanes, and it also ends at a slight angle.
As I previously stated, the Jury is still out on this "1956 Ford Fairlane accessory". |

HAH!
I just noticed the photo in POST #68 is a 4DR. Somebody had to make these kits. I wonder if you contact CHUCK GARDNER on the 56 FORD SITE if he has any information? |

Re: Extra Side trim on 1956 Ford Fairlane?
In my opinion, that extra trim throws everything off. Its a great looking car with its standard side trim. Of course, to each its own. I know I personally would never do that to my 56.

I'm not a fan of the extra trim. Like the single.
