Early V8 engine test stand question
Hi all. I 'm getting ready to build a test stand for my 59ab. In running searches on this forum I did find several pic's and discussions on this topic. I see there is great concern with many about using the rear of the engine block(bell housing) as a mounting point to a stand. My question is does anyone use an empty transmission case plus the main shaft bearing retainer as a rear mount? Does this approach take the stress off the block or does it create other issues? Thanks.

Re: Early V8 engine test stand question
The concern you have read about is bolting the bell housing to an engine stand. If you are talking about a test stand to run an engine you can bolt to the bell housing.
However, if you meant an engine stand to do the assembly you can make up an adapter that holds the engine at the exhaust manifold bolt holes. John |

Thanks for the reply John. I did see your test stand in one of the threads I had searched and saved the pic's. The pic of your engine stand is also a big help.
